Compagnie I AM NOT

I AM NOT Company

The company I AM NOT was founded in 2021 under the initiative of Simon Gabillet, with the desire to create projects pushing the boundaries between dance, theatre and performance.

Through its creations and its outreach work, the company seeks to open up spaces for expression, for shifting perspectives and for encounters with diverse audiences. These projects aim to build connections and open up spaces for exchange, drawing on the language of the body and the power of theatre.

After carrying out numerous outreach initiatives, the company took a new step in 2024 with the creation of its first piece, MAMALIA. Originally conceived for the Danse à Milly festival, this immersive work blending dance and theatre in an in situ performance has since been adapted for other venues, such as the Center for Openness and Dialogue in Albania. MAMALIA marks the first collaboration between Simon Gabillet and Maeva Lassere, who are both performers and co-directors of the piece.

The company is now devoted to a new creation: the solo performance SKINNY GIRL. Through this show, which lifts the taboo around eating disorders, the company continues its artistic and human commitment, using the intimate to explore universal themes while inventing new forms of choreographic and performative language.

Each creation is, for the company, an opportunity to meet new performers and new stories, in order to nourish an ever-renewed dialogue between bodies, imaginations and the world around us.
